A Weekend Away (+ community events this week)
Jake and I got to step away from farm life for 72 hours. We headed to Milwaukee for a beautiful wedding, got all dolled up, and spent some lovely time reconnecting with friends.
It’s always a treat to sneak away from the farm, and somehow, always a treat to come home, too. Lots of travel for a very short trip, but completely worth it.
We hope to see you at the Farmstand on Monday or at the Thursday Farmers Market in Morro Bay!
UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS
There are two events happening in our community this week that we wanted to highlight!
First up is the Bioneers Conference, happening October 2nd & 3rd in Atascadero. This will be my first year attending, but it definitely seems like it’s centered around a lot of the things we care about: environmental and climate solutions, food and land sovereignty, regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, social justice, and more.
Friday will focus on environmental and climate-related topics, while Saturday will center around social justice. The conference is also aiming to share stories of what’s working and create a little more optimism in the midst of some pretty heavy times. I will be there Friday, come and say hi!

And then, on October 4th, our dear farmer friend Blaze from Soloro Farms is hosting her annual Harvest Fest! Soloro is a no-till ecological farm in Creston, and this is a sweet opportunity to celebrate the abundance of fall with the community. It’s kid-friendly, too!
