A Full Week (250 holes, sweet potatoes & a new gathering space)

Hello from Tomorro Farm,

A common theme I’ve heard lately when talking with others is just how much is going on, and how busy everyone feels. That couldn’t be closer to the truth! It has been an action-packed week around here.

For me, it feels grounding to sit down and reflect on the week through these farm notes. I enjoy remembering all the little happenings and sharing them with our people. If you’ve been feeling busy, overstimulated, or overwhelmed lately, take a moment to enjoy the present moment - or reflect on the past few days. A little gratitude goes a long way.

PREPPING FOR SATURDAY

Fortunately, the grant we received for our hedgerow financially covered an auger rental. Yesterday, we pre-dug over 250 holes in preparation for the planting party this Saturday! We are so excited to get all these beautiful natives in the ground, host our first volunteer event and watch the hedgerow grow and flourish over the years.

This is one of the best opportunities to visit the farm and volunteer alongside us, so if you are interested, we would truly love your help! There is a link below to sign up.

A NEW PERGOLA

My dad and his friend (shoutout to Greg and Kale!) have been working their tails off during their stay at the farm. Don’t worry though, they were having plenty of fun! Together they built a 1,100 sq. ft. open structure over our storage container. One side has a clear roof and will become our new wash/pack area where all of the produce gets cleaned and organized. The other side is fully shaded and will serve as a community gathering space for hosting events, CSA pickup, and even tractor parking when not in use otherwise! We are especially excited to finally have the storage container shaded. It will make storing crops much more practical by reducing the dramatic temperature swings inside.

Jake and I are so grateful and in awe of their building capabilities! This thing got built in a mere 3.5 days! Incredible!

THIS WEEK’S VEGETABLE FORECAST:

We’ll be back at the Morro Bay Farmers Market this Thursday! Check out what we’re bringing this week!

Roots: purple bunching onions, hakerei salad turnips, kohlrabi, carrots!, fennel

Cut Greens: the triple threat of mellow mix, moody mix, and mighty mix

Bunched greens: bok choy, curly kale, rainbow chard, pea shoots

Heads: iceberg (my new favorite for wraps and easy meal prep), purple cauliflower, napa cabbage

Herbs: sage, thyme, chives, tarragon, dill

We currently have a wide variety of produce for sale at the Avocado Shack in Morro Bay! Fresh goods arrive weekly on Fridays.

VEGETABLE HIGHLIGHT: PURPLE CAULIFLOWER

This long-stemmed cauliflower variety has quickly become a new favorite for us! We’ve been enjoying it raw, roasted, sautéed like broccolini, and even riced. The stems are actually the sweetest part — tender, flavorful, and fully edible. We’ll have plenty at the farmers market this Thursday, but they sold out quickly last week, so come early if you’d like some!

On top of all these new projects and exciting changes, we officially launched our 2026 CSA! The pick up is at the farm on Mondays from 4-6:30. We’re slowly spreading the word — kind of like a soft opening — so memberships can trickle in while we continue learning and growing alongside the program. If you are interested in signing up, or simply want more details about receiving a weekly share from Tomorro Farm, click the link above to send me an email, and I’ll be in touch!

Your farmers,

Jake & Jesse :)

OKAY fine, one more thing… we got sweet potatoes planted this week and I just had to show you!
